Hello! My name is Rashelle Brown. I am a certified personal trainer based in
the Hastings, MN area. My mission is simple - to provide you with the education, instruction, support and motivation
to reach your full potential.
In an age of fad diets and self-published exercise books, I strive to put
the "personal" back into Personal Training. I believe that you are a unique individual - you have your own
goals, your own limitations, and you face your own challenges. I bring a truly integrative approach to my practice because
I believe this is the best way to help you reach your goals. My goal is to make each client feel like they are my only
client.
My Qualifications
Professional certification by the American
Council on Exercise
There are dozens of companies today offering personal trainer certifications.
The criteria for awarding these certifications is extremely varied. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is one of
only a handful of organizations currently accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies. ACE is a non-profit
organization committed to ensuring the health, welfare and safety of the public. The criteria for initial certification
is among the highest in the nation, and continuing education is required to maintain certification. You can feel safe
and secure in the knowledge that you are working with a true fitness professional.
A degree in Behavioral
Sciences
No matter what your health and fitness goals are, acheiving them will almost certainly entail
making changes to your lifestyle. Whether you want to lose weight, build muscle, finish a marathon or be able to play
with your great grandchildren, changes in your everyday life must happen before you can get there. I employ a "whole
picture" training philosophy that looks at where you are, where you want to go, and what steps are necessary to
get you there. In addition to addressing diet and exercise needs, I include visualization, self-affirmation and
behavior modification techniques that improve the likelihood of success tremendously.
Four years of yoga
study
Most in the health and fitness industry today agree that stress management is a key component to
overall health and wellbeing. While I am not a licensed yoga instructor, I do bring the yoga philosophy to my practice.
I believe that being present in the moment results in more productive, more enjoyable workouts, and that when the same philosophy
is applied to other areas of life, a general sense of wellbeing is more attainable. I teach you to quiet your mind and
listen to your body, to focus your attention and energy on the task at hand, and to judge yourself less and love yourself
more. Flexibility is an important, and often overlooked, aspect of fitness that is critical in the prevention of injury
and that contributes to better exercise form and posture. I teach safe, basic stretches for the body and simple but
powerful breathing exercises for the mind.
A lifelong passion for health and fitness
All my life exercise has been important to me. I have over twenty-five years of experience in activities ranging from
strength training to distance running to competetive sports to yoga. I served four years in the US Air Force and designed
and implemented physical fitness programs for the personnel in my unit. I have competed nationally in rugby and basketball,
completed several triathlons and finished a race to the top of Pike's Peak. I have also lost over thirty pounds
in one year and kept the weight off for thirteen more. I have struggled with diet and exercise plans that didn't
deliver. You can feel confident that I have the knowledge and experience to help you reach your goals.
